Miss Gwen

Born and raised in Preston Lancashire, Gwen began her professional training at Preston Park School Dance Centre where she completed her RAD and ISTD advanced examinations and successfully obtained her teaching qualifications in RAD ballet and ISTD modern, tap and national.  She then furthered her training at The Royal Academy of Dance in London, graduating in 2001 with a BA (Hons) in The Art and Teaching of Ballet, and as a Licentiate of the RAD.  She was also awarded the prize for Outstanding Student of the Year.

After graduating Gwen danced professionally for 7 years, travelling the world aboard Norwegian Cruise Lines, dancing in shows such as Cameron Macintosh’s ‘Hey! Mr Producer’ and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Music of the Night’.  Upon returning to land, Gwen performed in several UK and US tours with Spirit of the Dance and The Spirit of Broadway before settling in St Albans and returning to her first love, teaching dance.

Following several years of teaching in the area, Gwen is delighted to introduce Gwen Hallam Dance and is looking forward to sharing her passion for dance and inspiring children of all ages.

 

Miss Ruth

Ruth grew up in Scotland where she began dancing at a young age. Over the years she trained in many styles including ballet,tap, modern, jazz, contemporary and highland dance. Ruth trained as a nursery practitioner before moving toHertfordshire to study full time at dance college. She graduated from Momentum Performing Arts Academy in 2020, where she trained in Musical Theatre for three years. Whilst at college she also gained her DDE Teacher Training qualifications in ISTD ballet, tap and modern. Ruth has been teaching for Gwen Hallam Dance for two years during which time she has successfully completed the teaching element of her DDE qualifications,working with students from our classes.
